The pistols feature flawless 40lpi hand-cut checkering both front and rear, round-butt modifications, Heinie sights with gold line inserts in the front, Wilson Combat grip-safeties, single side thumb safeties, Nowlin barrels, nitre-blue pins and screws, flattened and serrated slide tops, bordered slides, full line straightening as well as all the other functional and cosmetic details that Signature Grade has come to embody. The guns started life as a consecutively serial numbered set of Springfield Armory "gun kits". The "gun kits" start off as an oversized frame and slide set that after fitting had the following added: flawless 25lpi hand-cut checkering both front and rear, round-butt modifications, Professional Grade sights with gold line inserts in the front, Wilson Combat grip-safeties, single side thumb safeties, Kart barrels with chisel cut EGW bushings, nitre-blue pins and screws, flattened and serrated slide tops in the curved arrow pattern, bordered slides, handmade English Walnut stocks, as well as all the other functional and cosmetic details a matched pair of Best Grade guns should have. Jason Burton Two-Tone Colt Series 80... A two-tone Government Model has remained popular for as long as the word custom has been attached to 1911, and for good reason. Called many things by many others before us, the classiness and classic-ness of a two-tone Gov't Model has kept the finish combination a perennial favorite. Out of all the finishes available, be it traditional polished blue or any of the newest wonder finishes, a proper two-tone finish combination of "black" over "white" is a continuing favorite of ours and, like the Summer Special pictured with the gun, it's a perfect recipe of tradition and practicality. The gun began life as an "enhanced" Colt stainless steel frame that was welded up to have the older carbon steel MK IV Series 80 slide fit to it. After the slide was fit to the frame the gun got the following modifications: high-cut the frame with the factory "high-cut" removed, serrated front strap @ 20lpi, Kart barrel with EGW bushing, flattened and serrated slide top with triple curved arrow pattern, Professional Grade sights, S&A grip safety, single side thumb safety, hand-beveled mag-well, best quality trigger job, bordered slide, new internals throughout and much, much more.
